Alexis Roussel defended his thesis for the PhD in Economics, on 27-september-2024, entitled “Analysis of medical choice in shortage circumstances”, directed by Mostapha Diss & Marc Deschamps.
Abstract: The global epidemic of COVID-19 has led to shortages on an unprecedented scale throughout the world. The economic consequences of these resource shortages in the hospital environment have dramatic consequences for the care of patients in need. In this thesis, we propose to study three probabilistic temporal models, both theoretically and numerically, dealing with the allocation of respirators in intensive care units, the calculation of the average care time given to a patient according to the available nursing workforce, and finally the overall social welfare of patients according to hospital capacity.
