There is no longer any debate about the need to find solutions to climate change in order to contain global warming and limit its consequences.

The time for action is now. To act with foresight, we need to understand our heritage in all its dimensions - economic, social, legal - both positive and negative.  

Legitimizing a vision of the future based solely on denouncing the past can only lead to blindness.  

Transition or rupture? The question is not insignificant.  

"To be in transition is to transform progressively, allowing time for adaptation so as to master the consequences of this transformation.
It means building the future on the basis of a trajectory, while ensuring its social and economic sustainability and reserving a capacity for adjustment. 

Some would say that "being in transition" means taking the risk of transforming too slowly.  

"To break away is to transform radically. 

Some will say that "breaking away" is the only conceivable response to the urgency of the situation. But others will also say that it's taking the risk of economically and socially destructive consequences. 

The "rencontres énergies et territoires" are a forum for reflection and dialogue. Our ambition is to collectively find the path to a genuine transition that preserves economic and social equilibrium and responds concretely to the objectives of the Paris agreements.
